Hiya Friends!
Happy Tuesday and welcome to a new month and a new top 5 Tuesday topic, which was created by Bionic Book Worm. Please make sure to check out their page and their T5T posts if you’d also like to join. This week’s topic is all about the books that weren’t what I expected, whether in a good or bad way. The first of which is:

“The Deal” by Elle Kennedy. I have a review on my blog about this book and why it wasn’t what I expected.

The second book that wasn’t what I expected was: The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. I had heard good things about this book and finally got my hands on it at the library, but it did not live to my expectations. I really wanted to like this book, the plot was something I was very interested in, but it was just super slow and boring. *sad tears*

The Flatshare by Beth O Leary is the next book in my list. This book was super hyped up on social media and many people who I have similar reading tastes to me had told me it was a good book, but guys…I. Did. Not. Like. It. Ugh I am so upset that I didn’t, the plot sounded so great and I thought it was going to be super cute and a new favorite, but I was just bored with this one.

Faking Under the Mistletoe by Ashley Shepard was another read that surprised me! I think not knowing anything about a book/having no expectations can lead to great reads, which was the case with this book. It was good read!

The last book that wasn’t what I expected was The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. I had high hopes for this thriller and was thoroughly disappointed. I was engaged in the beginning, but I ended up figuring out the twist and how it was going to end that made reading the rest of the book a drag.
I haven’t read any of the books you’ve mentioned here, Jayme but I’m beginning to believe that I have more positive reading experience when I don’t listen to book hype! 😉
I hope this year is full of wonderful surprising reads as opposed to disappointing ones – for both of us. x

It ain’t new but I really enjoyed Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Much more a mystery than sci-fi.
